Dr. Blumenthal is renowned for his significant contributions to the field of preventive medicine and public health as a passionate champion for quality care across all populations. This event provides a platform to recognize leaders and celebrate individuals who embody his legacy of striving to overcome barriers of access and provide for underserved populations.

“Rural communities are the heart of our nation, yet too often they face unique and persistent barriers to healthcare access,” said Dr. Ryung Suh, President of the American College of Preventive Medicine. “By advancing preventive and primary care in these settings, we not only improve health outcomes but strengthen the resilience of every community. Ensuring that every American — regardless of geography — can access high-quality, preventive care is fundamental to protecting our nation’s well-being.”

The annual Blumenthal Lecture and Award remains a cornerstone of ACPM’s efforts to honor and amplify the work being done to drive positive change and create a healthier future. ACPM promotes initiatives and policies consistent with scientific evidence and the core principles of the preventive medicine profession, and recognizing outstanding leaders in rural health highlights the transformative power of prevention in creating healthier communities.
