(WASHINGTON, D.C.) The American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) reiterates its support for the childhood and adolescent vaccine schedule issued before January 2025, and the strength, safety and efficacy of said vaccinations at preventing illness and serious complications resulting from vaccine-preventable disease. As with all medical care, vaccination has always been and should always remain a choice made through informed discussion between patients, parents and their clinicians.
The recent legal ruling temporarily halting recent changes to the childhood vaccine schedule and suspending the appointments of 13 members of the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is significant. Preventive medicine physicians are trained to monitor and ensure safety and efficacy in public health interventions and serve as trustworthy stewards of the public’s health. ACPM continues to emphasize the need for qualified, clinical and population-health expertise in maintaining and navigating the complexities of immunization recommendations.
