(WASHINGTON, D.C.) The American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) is concerned the recently issued Executive Order recommending changes to the U.S. childhood and adolescent vaccine schedule will further decrease childhood vaccination rates and strain American families working to keep their children safe from vaccine-preventable diseases. As with all medical care, vaccination has always been and should always remain a choice made through informed discussion between patients, parents and their clinicians.
Additional appointments will unnecessarily burden families needing to schedule multiple visits should vaccines be administered individually – including breaking up the historically combined Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine. ACPM reiterates its support for the childhood and adolescent vaccine schedule issued before January 2025, and the evidence-based safety and efficacy of these vaccinations at preventing serious illness resulting from vaccine-preventable diseases.
