Your Voice, Our Future: Help Shape ACPM’s Direction

This is a defining moment for preventive medicine as a specialty and for ACPM as your professional home. The challenges we face today — including changes in federal priorities, evolving health systems, and emerging technologies — make it all the more important that ACPM understands and responds to our members’ needs. It is more important than ever for ACPM to listen closely to our members and act on what we hear.

The 2025 membership survey is now open. We know surveys can feel routine, but this one genuinely matters. We have been in ACPM leadership meetings where survey input changed the direction of strategy, led to the creation of new programs or shifted how we invested in member priorities.

Your feedback becomes our action plan and drives real change. Because of your input, ACPM reestablished the Medical Student, Resident, and Early Career Sections, creating meaningful ways for the next generation to connect and grow as leaders. Building on that foundation, ACPM has developed new Communities of Practice, giving members at every stage of their careers opportunities to collaborate around shared expertise and interests. Member input also led to new educational pathways, such as Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, and expanded lifestyle medicine offerings. And when you identified the need for more targeted education, ACPM introduced initiatives like the resident webinar series to support training and development.

We need that same honest feedback again. As the practice of preventive medicine adapts to new challenges and opportunities — and as the needs of our members evolve and new voices join our community — ACPM must be intentional about where we focus our energy. Your perspectives on practice, training, leadership and research will help us strengthen our professional community and set priorities that reflect what matters most to you. Your input helps us focus not only on what we do but also on how ACPM supports your growth and leadership in the field.

We want your voice in the conversation to shape our path forward — please complete the survey here by September 22. It takes less than 10 minutes, and your input will directly guide ACPM’s next steps.

Looking ahead, we’re forming member working groups to both analyze these survey results and enhance how we gather member input going forward. Whether you’re interested in analyzing survey data, interpreting findings, improving our survey process, member communication, or all of the above, we want to hear from you. Contact Dr. Deborah Porterfield and Dr. Prasad Acharya at membership@acpm.org to get involved.

Thank you for the role you play in shaping ACPM as our professional home.
