ACPM Community of Practice Chairs
ACPM’s Communities of Practice (CoPs) are member-led groups built around shared professional interests. Each offers a place to exchange ideas, collaborate on projects and connect with colleagues across practice settings and career stages. Every CoP meeting is open to all ACPM members, whether you plan to be a regular or just want to see what a group is working on. Two of the three are just getting started, so now is the perfect time time to help shape their directions. Here’s what’s on the docket for each group:
AI and Digital Health Thursday, October 1, at 6 p.m. ET Save the Date
ACPM’s AI Community of Practice brings members together to explore how artificial intelligence can best support clinical care, public and population health and responsible use in clinical practice. Recent discussions have examined patient safety, health equity, data quality and the human oversight different AI applications require. The group has formed two member-led workgroups: one is planning a review of AI-related harms and existing risk-assessment approaches to inform a practical framework for evaluating AI in healthcare and public health; the other is reviewing ACPM’s AI certification course, drawing on learner feedback and exam-question review to guide improvements. Members also share emerging developments and lessons from their own organizations. The CoP meets every two weeks and welcomes members at all levels of AI experience, whether you would like to contribute to a project, bring a question from your practice or learn alongside colleagues. Contact ACPM staff or the CoP co-chairs to get involved.
Clinical Preventive Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine Tuesday, October 13, at 12 p.m. ET Save the Date
We are one of the newer CoPs that were launched at PM2026 in Baltimore. We have had two meetings. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, at 12 p.m. ET. All are welcome. The CoP plans to have a multipronged approach. Our clinical focus covers preventive and lifestyle medicine, including both clinical practice and billing practices. For training, we plan to develop residency training milestones in lifestyle medicine. The CoP will also function as a place for mentoring physicians who are new to clinical practice or are pivoting due to changed circumstances. Finally, our members plan to continue to advocate for sound science-based lifestyle and preventive medicine recommendations. Since we are in our infancy, we hope more members will consider joining the CoP and becoming active members. There is a lot to be explored and done in this CoP.
Governmental Public Health Community of Practice Thursday, November 19, at 1 p.m. ET Save the Date
This Community of Practice has only recently started after identifying a need for a place for folks who work in governmental public health to have a place to support each other and a place for those interested in governmental public health to seek information and mentorship. We have just started drafting our group charter and plan to begin editing it at our next meeting. We hope to put together some resources for public health medical officers, as well as network and support each other. The CoP meets every other month. If you are interested in this group, please join the community on ACPM Pulse. The CoP is open to any interested member of ACPM. Within this group we will be sharing our CoP charter for feedback, agenda and Zoom links for upcoming meetings, resources etc.
