(WASHINGTON, D.C.) The American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) is pleased to announce the introduction of its newest Board members. Regents-at-Large of the ACPM Board comprise a group of accomplished professionals dedicated to advancing the specialty of preventive medicine. ACPM leadership is decided through election by ACPM membership and is responsible for oversight and governance of the organization.
Dr. Jill Waalen has taken on the role of President until May 2027. Dr. Waalen brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role, having served as Senior Scientist and CoDirector of Biostatistics at the prestigious Scripps Research Translational Institute, as well as ACPM’s secretary prior to assuming this role. Assuming the position of Secretary is Dr. Joe Iser, previous Regent-at-Large, who currently serves as the president of the Nevada Public Health Institute and is the former Chief Health Officer of the Southern Nevada Health District.
Dr. Michael Crupain, incumbent Treasurer was re-elected to the position, he is Executive Vice President of Clinical Services at Sharecare and currently is president of Population Health Strategy Inc and Chief Medical Officer of leading health analytics company, Certilytics. The incumbent Regents-at-Large include Dr. Richard Bruno, Health Officer of the Multonomah County Health Department and MAJ. Hunter Jackson Smith, Focus Area Lead for the Defense Health Agency and Adjunct Assistant Professor for the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics – who continue their service to the College. Joining them are new Regents-at-Large Drs. Erica Frank, Lisa Waddell and Prasad Acharya.
Dr. Erica Frank is an internationally prominent public health researcher, educator and leader. Dr. Lisa Waddell is the former chief medical officer for the CDC Foundation, as well having served in leadership roles such as Deputy Commissioner for Health Services in South Carolina, Chief Program Officer for Community Health at ASTHO, Senior VP for Maternal and Child Health and Deputy Health Officer for March of Dimes. Dr. Prasad Acharya’s expertise spans leadership in digital health and AI integration, serving as medical lead for Upstream Health Design and president of the California Academy of Preventive Medicine.
The new governance leadership of ACPM is committed to furthering ACPM’s mission of promoting preventive medicine and supporting public health initiatives. With this dedicated team in place, the College is poised to continue its valuable work in advocating for preventive healthcare practices and policies.
