Help Shape the Future of Our College: Nominations Now Open for Board Leadership Positions

Joe Iser, MD, DrPH, MSc, FACPM
Secretary

As your newly elected Secretary, I am pleased to announce the nominations process is now open for three important leadership positions on our Board of Regents: two Regent-at-Large positions and the President-Elect position.

Our College’s strength has always come from the expertise, commitment, and vision of members who step forward to serve. As we continue to advance the specialty of Preventive Medicine and support physicians dedicated to improving the health of populations and communities, strong leadership is essential.

Serving on the Board provides a unique opportunity to help guide the strategic direction of the College, represent the interests of our members, and contribute to initiatives that strengthen the practice and impact of preventive medicine nationwide. Call for nominations closes July 16.

Positions Open for Election

The President-Elect serves as a key member of the Executive Committee and works closely with the President and Board of Regents to advance the College’s mission and strategic priorities. The President-Elect serves as the chair of the Strategy Committee, is an ex-officio member of each Committee of the Board and is a stand in for the President in his/her absence. Following the completion of the two-year term, the President-Elect will assume the office of President.

Regents-at-Large (two positions) represent the broad interests of the membership and participate in Board deliberations, strategic planning, and governance activities. These positions provide an excellent opportunity for members to contribute their perspectives and expertise to the future of the College. During the three-year term, Regents can serve as a liaison to a Committee of the College or Section.

Term of Service

The terms for all elected positions will begin following the close of the PM2027 annual conference in San Diego, May 3-6.

All elected officers and Regents are expected to actively participate in Board meetings and governance activities throughout the year. In addition, newly elected leaders are asked to attend the Board Leadership Retreat scheduled for late October 2026, prior to the start of their term, which provides an important opportunity for strategic planning, orientation and team building.

Consider Nominating a Colleague — or Yourself

We encourage members to nominate individuals who demonstrate leadership, professionalism, a commitment to preventive medicine, and a passion for advancing our specialty and College. Self-nominations are also welcome.

The future of our College depends on engaged members willing to lend their talents, experience, and perspectives to our shared mission. Whether you are considering service yourself or know a colleague who would make an outstanding leader, we encourage you to participate in the nominations process.

Additional information about eligibility requirements, position responsibilities, and nomination deadlines can be found here.

Thank you for your commitment to the College and to the advancement of preventive medicine. I look forward to seeing the exceptional leaders who will help guide our organization.
