(WASHINGTON, DC) The American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) wishes to acknowledge the confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) and expresses its commitment to working collaboratively with the administration in achieving its stated goals of reducing chronic, preventable disease; given that the United States spends more than 70% of our healthcare budget on chronic disease treatment and management.

Facing a chronic disease crisis, ACPM is determined to work in partnership with the administration, the 119th Congress and other stakeholders to ensure evidence-supported, science-based public health policy and decision-making is implemented to protect the health of our Nation. Board-certified preventive medicine physicians are uniquely equipped to lead such efforts.

ACPM welcomes the opportunity to engage incoming health officials and provide evidence-based, peer-reviewed, scientific guidance as part of our larger mission to improve the health of the American population. ACPM is prepared to work with Secretary Kennedy and offer input, guidance and feedback on key initiatives, believing it essential to advance efforts which enable and facilitate evidence-based public dialogue on important public health topics.

ACPM encourages the incoming HHS Secretary to realize the value of preventive medicine and provide the specialty with the resources needed to train specialists with expertise to effectively address the root cause of disease.  An investment in training more specialists in Public Health & General Preventive Medicine is an investment in the health of America.
