The purpose of this Policy Manual is to
consolidate into a single guide the major
operational policies of the American
College of Preventive Medicine. The
Policy Manual is intended to provide
members of the ACPM Board of Regents,
candidates for the Board of Regents,
committee chairs, committee members, and
ACPM staff with an understanding of ACPM’s
operational policies. Changes to the
manual are approved by the Board of
Regents directly or after recommendation
to the Board by the Constitution and
Bylaws Committee.
It is also
important to understand what is not
included in the manual. The manual does
not include ACPM’s policies on legislative
and regulatory issues and on issues
pertaining to the field of preventive
medicine generally. The manual also does
not contain the detailed office policies
that govern the day-to-day workings in the
ACPM office. These public policies and
office procedures are maintained at ACPM
headquarters in Washington, DC.
It is the
responsibility of each ACPM leader to
review and understand the contents of the
Policy Manual. Suggestions for revisions
to the manual may be addressed to the
Chair of ACPM’s Constitution and Bylaws
Committee or to ACPM’s Executive Director.
Changes to
the manual are approved by the Board of
Regents directly or after recommendation
to the Board by the Constitution and
Bylaws Committee. However, staff may make
minor administrative and clerical changes
unless the change has policy implications.
